Meet Our Board of Directors

Dan Hankins, President

Dan was born and raised on the north side of Grand Ledge. After attending Michigan State University for one year, Dan joined the US Marine Corps and upon his honorable discharge became a police officer for some 11 years, all the while attending MSU to attain his 4-year degree. He then entered Detroit College of Law in Detroit and graduated with a juris doctorate degree. Dan is a labor attorney. Dan is married to Jayne Flanigan. He attends the Lakewood United Methodist Church where he is a member of the Missions Committee and the Lay Leadership Committee. Dan is Past President of the Woodland Lions Club and is currently a member of the Lakewood Area Lions Club.

Jayne Flanigan, Treasurer

Jayne was born and raised in Woodland. After graduating from Lakewood High School, she attended Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana for one year. She then attended Lansing Community College where she attained her Associate's Degree, Michigan State University where she attained her Bachelor's Degree, and Cooley Law School where she obtained her law degree. Jayne worked full time to put herself through college. Jayne is married to Dan Hankins and has two step-daughters, and two granddaughters. She attends the Lakewood United Methodist Church where she is involved in music and worship. Jayne enjoys reading, gardening, animals and knitting.

Clay Martz

Clay and his wife, Lee, are transplants from Ludington, Michigan, and have lived in the Lakewood area for over 30 years. They have two daughters. Clay serves on the Staff Parish Committee at Lakewood United Methodist Church. He also serves as President of the Lakewood Area Lions Club. He is the manager of Crop Production Services in Woodbury. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, kayaking and spending time at their cabin in the Upper Peninsula.

Lee Martz

Lee and her husband, Clay, live in Woodland, and have two daughters and a son-in-law, who also live in the Lakewood area. Lee works as an administrative coordinator at CPS Distribution in Sunfield. Lee and Clay are members of Lakewood United Methodist Church, where she serves on the Missions Committee. She has served in the missions area for over 25 years. Lee enjoys spending time with family, gardening, cooking, camping, hiking and travel, especially mission trips.

Wes Meyers

Wes and his wife, Connie, reside in Lake Odessa, Michigan and have three children--one still at home and two in California. Wes has been employed by Hastings Mutual Insurance Company for the last 29 years. He is a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, where he serves on the Administrative Board and chairs the Missions Committee. Wes enjoys his family as well as the outdoors, including gardening and hunting.

Judy Rodriguez, Secretary

Judy is married with two boys, ages 23 and 21. She lives in Lake Odessa and has worked at the Union Bank for 27 years and is currently a Commercial Loan Assistant for 27 years. Judy attends St. Edwards Catholic Church. Judy likes to bowl, read, and watch her son play in his band. Judy is a board member of the Lakewood Area Lions Club.

William Sutton

Bill Sutton was born in Pontiac, Michigan and has lived in the Ionia/Lake Odessa area since he was three years old. Bill currently lives on 10+ acres west of Lake Odessa. He attended Ionia High School, General Motors Institute, and worked for Oldsmobile/General Motors for 40 years retiring in 2001 including 18 years as a Manufacturing Executive. He managed operations in Quality Control, Manufacturing, Materials Management and Logistics--primarily in the areas of Engine Manufacturing and Vehicle Assembly. Bill has done some consulting work in Manufacturing, Materials, Scheduling, and Logistics for GM Suppliers.

Bill has been married to his wife Mary for 45 years. Their family includes 2 sons, 4 daughters, and 8 grandchildren. They enjoy traveling, camping, and watching the grandchildren participate in various athletic, academic, and musical activities. Bill is a lifelong softball player, hunter, canoes in Michigan and Canada, and is still an active wood cutter and tree trimmer. Both Bill and Mary are active members of St Edwards Parish in Lake Odessa; Bill is also an active member of the Lakewood Area Lions and a Club Officer and recently served on a special advisory Board to the Lakewood Public Schools as part of a successful initiative to gain public support and passage of their School Bond Proposal.

They enjoy short trips in Michigan and the surrounding areas but have traveled several times to Western Europe including a trip in 2007 to Latvia. They spend a short time in Arizona during the winter but can be found close to home most of the time involved with family and friends and their many volunteer projects.

Sue Winkler

Sue was born in Flint, Michigan, the sixth child in a family of eight. She moved to this side of the state for college and fell in love with the small town life and never moved back to the Flint area. Sue has been a resident of the Lake Odessa and Hastings areas for 30 years.

In 2004, Sue married Roger Winkler, who is currently employed with GM. They share their home with Sue’s daughter, Emily, who is 12 years old. Sue also has one son, Brandon (24) who lives in Ohio. Roger’s 3 adult children and their families have expanded Sue’s immediate family and have made her a grandma to 3 little girls.

Sue’s greatest joy comes from taking care of her family and their home. Sue works part time, enjoys gardening and the outdoors, and dabbles is various craft projects. Sue attends Lakewood United Methodist Church where she sings in two worship teams, volunteers for mission projects, volunteers with the respite program, and is a member of the yarn mission.
